Reel Features Season 14 Ticket 1
You would think that an adaptation of a popular Marvel character around the turn of the century with the advances in visual effects would herald a warm reception for a character that was beloved with the TV series and it's 3 animated series. Unfortunately, 2003 was not a kind year for the Hulk as this movie did such a disservice from sub-par writing, miscastings, predictable scoring and a Director that was just wrong for this project.
I think Ang Lee's approach just didn't match what the movie needed. With a movie that is an adaptation of the comic, you would expect to have a more action orientated plot. There is action to be had, but you have to endure the lengthy dialogue and these depressing buildups in order to get to what the movie is about. I mention in the review that had this movie had Edward Norton and the stellar writing from 2008 with the superb supporting cast and visual effects of this movie, then it would have been perfect. This flick amounts to nothing more than a guilty pleasure, which is the kindest way I can sum it up.
