Reel Features Season 12 Ticket 8No SpoilersSpoilerI decided to go into this with no expectations given Hollywood's track-record for less than successful adaptations of anime from 2009's DragonBall Evolution & Blood: The Last Vampire to the equally uninspired 2017's Ghost in the Shell.
Can you blame me for having low expectations for an industry that does not pay attention to the source material thoroughly? Thankfully this was in the hands of James Cameron's production company, Lightstorm Entertainment. Cameron has been a fan of anime since the original Ghost in the Shell anime movie and 2000's Blood: The Last Vampire. So when you know that he is serving as Producer that this will be handled appropriately. And what I saw was a great movie telling a great hero's origin that I later discovered had respect nods and cues to the original anime from the 90's. And this movie is already a certified hit taking in $382.7 million at the Box Office, at the time of writing this. I think it's more than safe to say that a sequel will be green-lit because a movie has to pass $300 million mark in order to be considered a success. Well, I'd say $382.7 a success. $382.7 million$382.7 million
