I'm not sure of how to feel knowing that the official Trailer to the live-action Sonic The Hedgehog Movie is going to be set to 1995's Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio.
I appreciate that you want to give the trailer some edge and attitude like the mascot for Sega, but I find that using a song like that will have the Sonic fanbase divided. As if they weren't already over everything and anything involving the character. Had it been 'All I want' by the Offspring then I could accept because that would suit the character more since he's been more associated with rock n roll. For context: I am not against the idea of using rap/hip-hop to promote the movie as long as its done in a way that compliments what the movie is intending to achieve. Gangsta's Paradise is a classic. No denial there. But for Sonic? I dunno... There's something about this that just doesn't add up. That and I can see the song being parodied as Eggman's Paradise as Hedgehog's paradise doesn't have quite the same je ne sais quoi. There is word-on-the-wire that the trailer is supposed to debut at the SxSW Sonic Panel that is being hosted by Sonic's Social Media Manager, Aaron Webber. I don't know what we're going to get if the trailer is supposed to be unveiled at the Panel, but one way or another the trailer will make an impact. Whether that's good or bad is entirely up to you. I'm remaining cautiously optimistic that it will be satisfying. But other Sonic fans may have a different viewpoint.
