It's something that we've seen used before where a protagonist wrestler gets fed up with being beat by the antagonist opposition and joins the enemy just to get away from drama.
It's been done before with Daniel Bryan in 2013 with the Wyatts as well, which ended very quickly due to the fact that audience rejected it in unison which left Wackie-Mackie with no choice but to turn Bryan face again and then chase after the Undisputed Title again. With Orton? I get the impression that he could be stuck with this angle for a while because there's no great demand for him as a face and creative don't seem to know what to do with him again. The more times change, the more they remain the same.
