It's something that we've seen used before where a protagonist wrestler gets fed up with being beat by the antagonist opposition and joins the enemy just to get away from drama.
It's been done before with Daniel Bryan in 2013 with the Wyatts as well, which ended very quickly due to the fact that audience rejected it in unison which left Wackie-Mackie with no choice but to turn Bryan face again and then chase after the Undisputed Title again.
With Orton? I get the impression that he could be stuck with this angle for a while because there's no great demand for him as a face and creative don't seem to know what to do with him again.
The more times change, the more they remain the same.
Fast Memories Part 16: 2016
And so we come to the end of this journey reflecting on 25 years of arguably one of the greatest video game characters ever to grace our screens on consoles and TV schedules.
I don't think anyone of us ever thought he would last this long. But endure and last he has.
Sonic is one of those characters that has been introduced to generations whether you first saw him in 1991, 2001, 2008 or 2011. He is a character that has changed very little over time in terms of personality where his humour is cheeky but appealing to all ages.
I think fans find something relatable in him that they apply to themselves; whether it's pushing yourself that extra harder, living life to the fullest or learning not to sweat the small-stuff.
As someone who has been a fan from the beginning; I have seen him rise, fall and pick himself up again. I have seen good TV shows and some where we see it as a guilty pleasure.
But the one thing that I see that has been consistent is that he never stops. And by 'he' I refer to Sega & Sonic Team always trying new ideas in helping to take him forward. From the Adventure years to dealing with an affliction in Sonic Unleashed.
The only field left for him to conquer is the Big Screen. I am looking forward to 2018 when that happens. Sony Pictures, don't screw this up.
Fast Memories has been a nice trip down memory lane revisiting why I became a Hedgehogite all those years ago and why I have remained a fan of Sonic to this day.
It's been pleasant to see the nostalgia sparked in your comments on what you remember from the early years with the 1st Genesis/Megadrive Titles to his first outings on TV with Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog & Sat-AM, which is my personal favourite out of all of them.
There is just something appealing about his games and his character from his cool design to his quick witted personality that makes it hard to dislike him.
Happy 25th Birthday, Sonic.

Fast Memories Part 15: 2014
8 years. That was all it took to bring the Franchise down again with the less than pleasing offering for the Wii-U with Big Red Button at the helm.
I find it interesting that this is considered the worst Sonic Title since "that game" and SonicTeam didn't even work on it? ironic.
The TV show was moderately entertaining. But in all honesty it needs to be longer than 11 minutes per episode.
Fast Memories Part 14: 2012 & 2013
A lot to cover in this chapter with Movie appearances in a full fledged Disney movie and a fan-film that got a lot of attention the opening of 2013 produced by Blue Core Studios with Eddie LeBron writing and directing said picture.
It was also the first major Sonic console since Sonic Generations with Sonic: Lost World with the comedic element being heavily expanded on, but sometimes not in places you'd would suit the character.
Fast Memories Part 13: 2011
This was a game that had fans waiting with anticipation when the trailer dropped on the Internet in Spring of 2011 of 2 Sonics in one game.
As someone who played through the 16-bit, Dreamcast & Modern Eras of Sonic The Hedgehog, to be able to now play through a selection of Zones from these Eras with updates on the classic perspective and fresh takes on them from a modern perspective made me feel like a kid in the candy store. I didn't know where to start.
I felt Sega & SonicTeam delivered a very satisfying game to the point where you actually had to look for discrepancies as we had been either disappointed or had mixed feelings on previous Sonic games in the five years prior to this. But the only criticism I could make with this is that it could have been longer. This was just a minor constructive observation as I felt that Sega could have done more with this game and have more Zones from the 16-bit days that would have offered some more experiences with maybe Zones like Mystic Cave, Oil Ocean, Starlight, Sandopolis & Spring Yard Zone.
But that said; what we did have was a great way to celebrate his 20th Anniversary.

Fast Memories Part 12: 2010
This was a good time to be a Sonic with not 1 but 2 offerings from SonicTeam & DIMPs that did both Sonic Colors that continued the working forumla from Sonic Unleashed and the first sequel for the Sonic The Hedgehog Series since Sonic 3 back in 1994 with a side-scrolling adventure with a 3D influence that harked back to the Genesis Era.
Fast Memories Part 11: 2008
Originally when this was announced I was very intrigued at what the title meant. And the more info that was released was suggesting that it would play on the theme of Jekyl & Hyde a little with the idea of Sonic turning into a more muscular and feral creature whenever the sun would go down and night would fall.
Now some might argue that's really unnecessary but given the improvements in the loading time with the Hedgehog engine, the much smoother pacing of the game as either daytime or Werehog mode along with much more simplified comedic and somewhat light-hearted direction with the story then I will gladly take this much needed step in the right direction compared to THAT GAME from 2 years prior to this.
This is what happens when SonicTeam, and by extension - Sega; listen to the fans and deliver a much more satisfying gaming experience that players are much more inclined to play and give glowing reports of than a game that was deeply flawed in writing, programming, Beta testing and just all round in need of further development.
I still find it odd that people will still find ways of talking about a game that almost killed Sonic's career rather than the topic of discussion from 2008 that was so much more fun and has immense replay value.
8 Years later I have lost count the amount of times I have gone back Unleashed. That tells you a lot.
Fast Memories Part 10: 2006
Oh my goodness......where do I start with this abysmal stain on Sonic's career????
When I first started seeing screenshots and test footage of how this game would be as it approached his 15th Anniversary 10 years ago; I was all excited and giddy with glee. Because at this point it had been 13 years since Sonic Spinball (don't ask. I just really hate that game) and thought that nothing could wrong with what was touted as the beginning of the "Sonic Age."
Boy! Were we ever so wrong when this was released to stores in the run-up to the Holiday Season 2006.
I don't know what was worse with this game; the patience inducing load times that seemed to have more presence than the player's game time, the story in which Sonic is facing an appocalyptic catastrophy greater than that of Sonic Adventure 2 or the very questionable nature in which Princess Elise kisses Sonic on the lips in order to help with reviving him with the Chaos Emeralds.
I do like how Sonic's social media manager, Aaron Weber; basically skipped over talking about Sonic 360 during a convention panel.
I would have liked to have done the same. But you can't have the good without the bad.
And sadly this game is very bad.
I could go further with my comments but as mentioned in the video I wanted to keep this as brief as possible. And that's how it will be.
Fast Memories Part 9: 2005
This is what happens when the Franchise tries to go TV14 and fails in the process as it feels contrived and forced that SonicTeam would try and make something that was aiming for a WWE Attitude Era when it was just fine sticking to the Marvel Cinematic Universe level where there are wink-wink moments, but doesn't cross a line.
Which it sadly does here.
And if you thought that was bad......just wait until the 15th Anniversary a year later.
